About Pandit Ji

Pt.Vidyadhar Mishra is one of the greatest and very renowned vocalist of India belongs to the illustrious gharana of Banaras. Panditji saw the light of the day on 13th June 1961. He is the son of legendary Late Pt. Ganesh Prasad Mishra Ji. Being a renowned vocalist of India classical music he is an artist in the international arena to be reckoned with.

He received intensive training in classical music under the tutelage of his iconic grandfather Pt. Harishankar Mishra and his father Pt. Ganesh Prasad Mishra. He is a doctorate in music from Allahabad University and also a professor in the same prestigious institution with which he has been associated since 1984. He is a gold medalist in Sangeet Praveen from Prayag Sangeet Samiti & is also M.A. in Modern History.

Panditiji is a well known ‘A’ grade artist in Hindustani classical music (Khayal).He is credited in performing at AIR National Programmes and National telecast from Doordarshan special recording and broadcasts from other AIR stations as a visiting artiste his vocal recitals are regularly broadcast on AIR(Allahabad). Pandit Ji has also given T.V. concerts in Sri-Lanka, Nepal & Japan.

His programmes and achievements have been recognized and honoured by Chief Ministers and Governors of U.P. , M.P. , Bihar, Orissa and various states and also by the Prime minister of Sri Lanka.

His mellifluous voice in rendering Hindustani Classical vocal music in its forms like- Khayal, Tarana, difficult & most rare form Tappa, thumri, Dadra, Chaiti, Kajri & Bhajan with impeccability shows his versatility of a rare genius.

Pandit ji’s audio cassettes and c.d.’s have been released by yellow & red music (India)as well as JVC and Sony (Japan)and also Video c.d. launched from Sri-Lanka & Japan.

    audience with the majestic ease with which he renders musical sequences.
  • Panditiji is the grandson of late Pt. Bade Ramdasji Mishra who is known as the
    founder of Banaras Gharana [Vocal] Grandson-in-law of the Pt. Anokhe Lal
    Mishra the Tabla maestro of India.
  • His son‘s Shri Rishi and Varun Mishra are also rising stars and also adept in
    performing Hindustani classical music.
  • Vidyadharji performs regularly in India as India well as Abroad.
  • He currently Lives in Allahabad where he teaches music not only to Indian
    students but also to many disciples From Abroad, thus has been instrumental
    in transferring his knowledge and perpetuating musical legacy
